Stepanakert is the Capital of Artsakh and it has ancient history dated back to 3,000 years b.c. Evidence of which was proved by archaeological excavations initiated here from the end of 19th cc by scientist Emil Resler. Currently it is named after Armenian revolutionary Stepan Shaumyan. City planning and construction was made by the group of architects headed by Alexander Tamanyan. Nowadays it is nice cozy clean green city with modern buildings surrounded by mountains and forests.
