Shushi
Shushi was one of the political and cultural centers of Armenia, as well as one of the original territories of Artsakh Province of Great Armenia. Shushi is a fortified town situated on a mountain plateau (1400m). Initially an inaccessible fortress, Shushi became city in the middle of the 19th century. Its rapid growth made it an important religious center housing the beautiful Cathedral of Karabakh. The main attraction of Shushi is recently restored- Holy Amenaprkich Ghazanchetsots Cathedral of Karabakh and ruins of Shushi fortress. Don’t forget to stop by the Tank Memorial in Shushi, dedicated to the Armenians who liberated Shushi on May 9th, 1992, and take a picture for memory.
